There was no weekly sheep sale at the Matawhero Saleyards on Friday due to insufficient stock numbers.
A PGG Wrightson stock agent said farmers were “holding off” on putting stock forward for sale because of the strong grass growth across the region.
“That’s a follow-on from the good rain we’ve had,” he said.
“They’re waiting to see where the market settles at this stage.”
The agent confirmed plans for a sale next Friday, followed by a cattle fair on February 4.
