The Country Early Edition: What does 31-years in the dairy industry sound like? Fonterra's Stu Gray catches up with Dom George to recap his interesting and fascinating career.

Stu Gray is retiring. The Fonterra Head of Co-operative Affairs for Canterbury caught up with The Country Early Edition's Dom George to recap 31 years in the dairy industry.

Gray started in 1985 at the New Zealand Dairy Board and has had an interesting and varied career both here and abroad.

He recollects when and how Fonterra was formed and reckons that they have got back to their co-operative roots in recent years.

Stu also recounts the changes in the dairy industry following 911 as he was in the Middle East during those troubling times.

New Zealand is home for Stu though and he says it's a wonderful place and we "tend to underrate that".
