Fonterra plans $212m dairy plant

Fonterra plans to build a $212 million milk powder plant at Edendale to process increased milk supply in the South Island.

The plant will bring Edendale's peak processing capacity to more than 15 million litres a day and make it one of the largest powder plants in the world, Fonterra chief executive Andrew Ferrier said.

The dryer should be operating by the end of the year, he said.
