A driver and 48 bobby calves had a lucky escape when a stock truck rolled off the road between Roxburgh and Millers Flat yesterday.

All escaped injury in the single-vehicle crash, on Teviot Rd about 4km from Millers Flat, Senior Constable Lance Davies, of Roxburgh, said.

The driver  veered off the road  about 11.45am and the vehicle had "come to rest" against willow trees, he said.

Two fire appliances and one police vehicle attended the incident, Snr Const Davies said.
The bobby calves were removed from the truck and taken by a local farmer to a nearby property, where they were checked by a vet, he said.

Police were investigating the cause of the crash.
