The beekeeping industry is confident diluted honey being sold on Australian supermarket shelves isn't an issue here in New Zealand.
An investigation in Australia has found almost half of the samples taken from supermarkets were not 100 per cent honey.
They'd been mixed with substances other than nectar from bees.
Apiculture New Zealand chief executive Karin Kos says there are safeguards in place to ensure New Zealand's manuka honey isn't being messed with.
She says it has to meet a scientific definition of manuka honey, which upholds the product's integrity and ensures it's true to label.
