DairyNZ: Director hopefuls have until Friday for nominations

Farmers are being advised to get nominations in for DairyNZ board of directors.

Dairy farmers considering a role on DairyNZ's Board of Directors have until this Friday to get their nominations in.

This year one farmer director is being elected, providing an opportunity for dairy farmers with governance and leadership experience to get involved.

The director elected this year will join four other farmer-elected directors and three board-appointed directors on the DairyNZ board.

Nominations are also being taken for one farmer to join the DairyNZ directors remuneration committee, which considers and recommends remuneration for directors each year.

Electionz.com returning officer Anthony Morton is urging farmers intending to submit nominations to do so early.

"Dairy farmer levy payers have a few days left to get their nominations in, to fill these two important positions with DairyNZ," says Anthony.

"This is a busy part of the year for dairy farmers and I'd encourage them to complete and submit their nomination forms as soon as possible, to ensure they can be processed in time."

All farmers paying a levy on milksolids to DairyNZ are eligible to stand for the Board of Directors or the directors remuneration committee.

Candidate nominations close at noon this Friday. Voting opens for dairy farmer levy payers on October 1, with results announced at the DairyNZ Annual General Meeting on October 31.
