Dairy prices have risen slightly overall at Fonterra's GlobalDairyTrade auction but the important whole milk power price has slipped nearly 3 per cent.

The GDT Price Index was up 0.6 per cent on Wednesday morning (NZT) and the average price to $US3395 ($NZ4719) per tonne, the sixth consecutive rise at the fortnightly sale.

Most products were up but the price for whole milk powder, Fonterra's main product, was down 2.9 per cent to $US3143 per tonne.
