The Hamilton-based dairy farmer-owned co-op Livestock Improvement Corporation is becoming a partner in the South Island Dairying Development Centre.

The centre, formed in 2001 to enhance the competitive advantage of South Island dairy farmers, is a partnership between Lincoln University, Dexcel, Crop & Food Research, the Ravensdown Fertiliser Co-op and
the South Island Dairy Event farmer network.

Centre chairman Roger Field said LIC's involvement in the partnership would add expertise in animal improvement, animal management, and farm information systems.
