Crossbred wool has lost a footing on the market.

Crossbred wool has lost a footing on the market.

The second South Island wool sale of the season continued to be difficult for crossbred wool with a slowing down of overseas sales, mainly those from China.

There was considerable push back from crossbred wool growers unwilling to sell below reserve price expectations which was reflected by the high withdrawn lots prior to the sale, PGG Wrightson Wool's South Island sales team said.

An excellent offering of pre-lamb shorn mid micron and merino wool at this week's sale in Christchurch continued to receive ''significant benefits'' from unprecedented offshore demand.

Some prices. -
Lake McKay Station (Wanaka), 10 bales fine halfbred 2-tooth AAA, 26 micron, 73.7% yield, 1149 greasy, 1559 clean; Rocklands Station (Otago), 42 bales Romney 2-tooth AA, 38.2 micron, 81.6% yield, 282 greasy, 346 clean.
