Bulls were the star of the store cattle sale at Stortford Lodge yesterday with five pens of R2 friesians breaking the $3/kg mark. However, in the sheep pens male lambs went off the boil although ewe lamb prices held up in a big yarding of about 6500.

There was also a big yarding of about 2600 scanned-in-lamb ewes. The best of them sold well but other pens were passed in. Agents put the easing of prices down to a lack of rain and heavy frosts cutting grass growth.
