Baby food a boomer

An $8.4 million expansion of Waitoa's dairy factory will pave the way for further exports of baby foods to Asia.

New Zealand Dairy Group general manager Gary Romano said the factory in the small Waikato town had doubled production of baby formulas over the past year to 46,000 tonnes.

Staff had identified and visited the key markets of Malaysia, China, Thailand and Korea, where demand for infant formulas was growing strongly.
