Levin Sale weather was great, and the market was strong.

Calves — Freis bulls $80 — $160, SIMX bulls $200 — $250, Fresi/Hfd bulls $200 — $220, Freis heifers $140 — $185. SIMX hfrs $140, xbred $20 — $60. In lamb ewes $100, lambs $120 — $180, smaller $100 — $120. Store cattle Freis/Angus steers $800, ylg heifers $700, weaners $400 — $500, B/G $380.

Very strong demand for store cattle. If selling consider Carrfields, Levin Cattle Fair 2nd October.

Spring showed its face again at Rongotea with the calf pens showing no signs of slowing down in both numbers and price.

3 year white face heifers 461 kg made $1350 ($2.93).

2 year Angus cross steers 325 kg — 470 kg made up to $1310 ($2.79 — $2.89) and Friesian steers 505 kg made $1440 ($2.85).

2 year white face bulls 435 kg made $1230 ($2.83) and cross bred bulls 410 kg made $1080 ($2.63).

2 year white face heifers 297 kg — 450 kg made up to $1210 ($2.44 — $2.99), Friesian heifers 325 kg made $700 ($2.15) and cross bred heifers 347 kg made $920 ($2.30).

Yearling white face steers 234 kg — 240 kg made up to $750 ($3.12 — $3.14), Murray Grey steers 210 kg made $540 ($2.57), Devon steers 250 kg made $700 ($2.80) and cross bred steers 145 kg — 165 kg made up to $650 ($2.05 — $2.62).

Yearling Friesian bulls 295 kg made $820 ($2.78), white face bulls 250 kg made $710 ($2.84), Jersey bulls 330 kg made $710 ($2.15) and cross bred bulls 287 kg made $765 ($2.66).

Yearling white face heifers 168 kg — 270 kg made up to $805 ($2.68 — $3.41), Galloway heifers 276 kg made $625 ($2.26), Angus cross heifers 197 kg made $745 ($3.79) and beef cross heifers 280 kg — 300 kg made up to $895 ($2.64 — $2.98).

Weaner white face steers 107 kg made $375 ($3.49).

Weaner white face bulls 125 kg made $320 ($2.56) and cross bred bulls 106 kg — 134 kg made up to $420 ($3.07 — $3.13).

Friesian boner cows 340 kg — 610 kg made up to $1170 ($1.67 — $1.94) and cross bred cows 485 kg made $900 ($1.86).

Weaner pigs made $100 — $120.

Ewes with lambs at foot made $85 (all counted), MA ewes made $121 — $147 and mixed sex lambs made $80 — $151.

Big Friesian bull calves made $120 — $210 and smaller calves made $80 — $110. Big white face bull calves made $200 — $275 and smaller calves made $80 — $180. Angus cross bull calves made $190 and Short Horn cross bull calves made $100. Big white face heifer calves made $100 — $190 and smaller calves made $60 — $90. Angus cross heifer calves made $145 — $190.
