It was a small but strong sale this week. The first calf of the year was yarded, a Jersey x hfr making $50. Sheep — ewes (heavy) $91 — $120, ewes (light) $46 — $77, prime lambs $87 — $105, store lambs $44 — $78. A small yarding of quality cattle was also yarded — seven month bulls $605, W/F strs $580 — $630, W/F hfrs $580 — $600. Any enquiries ring David, 027 450 4133.

27th and 28th February 2018

The autumn calving sale held at the Rongotea sale complex on February 27 was extremely well supported with a complete clearance of all lines.

Autumn calving Friesian and Friesian cross cows made $1300 — $1670 and Friesian heifers made $1220 — $1420.

The sale this week provided a good selection of weaners for those looking for lighter feet to take through the winter.

2 ½ year beef heifers 434 kg — 562 kg made up to $1310 ($2.34 — $2.53).

2 year Friesian steers 400 kg — 565 kg made up to $1420 ($2.30 — $2.51) and cross breed steers 360 kg made $750 ($2.08).

2 year Hereford bulls 765 kg made $2260 ($2.95).

2 year white face heifers 258 kg — 366 kg made up to $900 ($2.46 — $2.64), Galloway cross heifers 367 kg made $895 ($2.44) and Jersey heifers 380 kg made $720 ($1.89).

18 month Friesian bulls 455 kg made $1210 ($2.77), cross breed bulls 395 kg made $1080 ($2.73) and Jersey bulls 325 kg — 335 kg made up to $720 ($2.12 — $2.22).

Weaner white face steers 115 kg — 140 kg made up to $520 ($3.64 — $4.52) and Angus cross steers 124 kg — 139 kg made up to $525 ($3.49 — $4.15).

Weaner Friesian bulls 122 kg — 185kg made up to $560 ($3.45 — $3.78), white face bulls 95 kg — 202 kg made up to $600 ($2.98 — $4.53) and Angus cross bulls 117 kg made $425 ($3.62). Cross breed bulls 120 kg — 177 kg made up to $535 ($2.46- $3.42) and Jersey bulls 116 kg — 155 kg made up to $320 ($2.03 — $2.76).

Weaner white face heifers 96 kg — 170 kg made up to $560 ($2.95 — $4.79), Angus cross heifers 121 kg — 230 kg made up to $600 ($2.61 — $4.15) and Murray Grey cross heifers 140 kg made $480 ($3.43). Belted Galloway heifers 142 kg made $400 ($2.81) and beef heifers 152 kg — 195 kg made up to $570 ($2.42 — $2.92).

Cross breed boners 416 kg made $655 ($1.58) and Jersey boners 225 kg — 340 kg made up to $400 ($1.11 — $1.14).

Porkers made $105 and weaner pigs made $40 — $82.

RWR ewes made $64 and mixed sex lambs made $70 — $83.
