Lambs sold well at the Levin latest stock sale

It was a positive sale at Levin with spring slowly coming around.

Friesian bulls fetched $110 - $150.

There was a good yarding of w/f calves with good w/f bulls making $180 - $240.
Good w/f heifers made $100 - $180 with smaller types making $65 -
$80.

On the sheep front, ewes fetched $109, 2-tooth ewes $80, store lambs $85 and a number of ewes with lambs at foot $56 -$91.

A good yarding of cattle also featured with steers making $780 - $890 and heifers $510 - $765.

Another bout of wet weather over the past week resulted in another smaller sale as vendors hold back, waiting for the grass market to kick into gear.

Two-year-old Jersey cross steers 510 kg made $1380 ($2.71).

Two-year-old beef cross bulls 540 kg made $1580 ($2.93).

Two-year-old white face heifers 410 kg made $1190 ($2.90), Friesian heifers 473 kg made $1260 ($2.66), Angus cross heifers 470 kg made $1355 ($2.88) and Speckle Park cross heifers 390 kg made $1150 ($2.95).

Yearling white face steers 203 kg - 317 kg made up to $980 ($2.85 - $3.84).

Yearling Friesian bulls 220 kg - 252 kg made up to $750 ($2.97 - $3.18), Angus cross bulls 232 kg made $650 ($2.80) and Jersey bulls 275 kg - 285 kg made $650 ($2.28 - $2.36).

Yearling white face heifers 157 kg made $560($3.56) and Angus cross heifers 210 kg - 260 kg made up to $705 ($2.58 - $3.36).

Autumn white face bulls 105 kg - 112 kg made up to $490 ($4.00 - $4.39) and Friesian bulls 131 kg - 180 kg made up to $490 ($2.67 - $4.97).

Autumn Angus cross heifers 130 kg made $550 ($4.23).

In calf cross Jersey and Jersey cross heifers made $950 and in milk Jersey heifers made $905.

Friesian boner cows 460 kg - 571 kg made up to $1030 ($1.32 - $1.80) and cross breed cows 364 kg - 487 kg made up to $855 ($1.54 - $1.98).

Store pigs made $140 and weaner pigs made $50 - $95.

Ewes with lambs at foot made $52 - $55, 2 tooth ewes made $62 and mixed sex lambs made $65 - $150.

Big Friesian bull calves made $100 - $160 and smaller calves made $40 - $90.

Big white face bull calves made $140 - $195 and smaller calves made $70 - $120.

Big white face heifer calves made $130 - $235 and smaller calves made $50 - $120.

Recorded Friesian heifer calves made $130 - $150.
