Levin Stock Sale

The first sale of 2018 was not big in numbers but strong in value, much the same as the Feilding market.

Fat ewes $8-0 — $110, fat lambs $100-$135, store lambs $51-$93.

Only two pens of cattle — 2yr Friesian Hfrs $700, Wnr hfrs, small $440.

Future sales at Feilding Bullock Fair Thursday, January 11, normal Friday sale is on January 12, next dairy weaner sale is on January 18, ewe fair same day, entries being taken now. Next Levin sale is Tuesday, January 16 — 25 wnr F/h heifers, 15 wnr F/h steers, 4 belted Gallaway wnr heifers.

Rongotea Sale

After some meaningful rain over the last week or so the first sale for the New Year saw a full rostrum and the first of the potter bulls coming forward for sale.

2 year Angus bulls 545kg made $1640 ($3.01), Hereford bulls 560kg-726kg made up to $1930 ($2.42-$2.66) and Beef Shorthorn bulls 395kg-489kg made up to $1410 ($2.68-$2.88).

Friesian bulls 355kg-675kg made up to $1860 ($2.55-$2.76), Speckled Park bulls 445kg-475kg made up to $1140 ($2.25-$2.40), Galloway bulls 580kg made $1600 ($2.76) and Jersey bulls 386kg-625kg made up to $1060 ($2.68-$2.88).

2 year Friesian steers 351kg made $675 ($1.92).

2 year white face heifers 220kg-371kg made up to $1000 ($2.13-$2.70) and Friesian heifers 331kg made $740 ($2.24).

Yearling Angus cross steers 316kg made $620 ($1.96).

Weaner Friesian bulls 124kg-190kg made up to $590 ($3.56-$4.24), white face bulls 98kg-235kg made up to $600 ($3.83-$5.46), cross breed bulls 106kg-260kg made up to $450 ($1.94-$3.28) and Jersey bulls 140kg-160kg made up to $395 ($1.79-$2.47).
Weaner white face heifers 81kg-188kg made up to $600 ($3.19-$4.65) and Angus cross heifers 104kg-136kg made up to $575 ($4.22-$4.42).

Friesian boner cows 525kg-575kg made up to $990 ($1.66- $1.72), cross breed boners 455kg-545kg made up to $880 ($1.61).

Weaner pigs made $35-$80.
