Recent rain brought out confidence in buyers at the Levin sale on Tuesday.

A larger yarding of lambs sold very well.

Sheep: Old season Hgts lambs teeth $79-$108; new season lambs $62-$102.
Cattle: 18 month old heifers $1090; yearling heifers $620-$640; yearling steers $765.

NZ Farmers Livestock Ltd

Significant rain over the last week brought a sharp rise in the number of cattle for sale and a full rostrum looking for more animals to control their surplus grass.

Finally the vendors of yearling cattle left smiling as the demand for these increased along with their prices, livestock agent Darryl Harwood reported.

2 year Hereford bulls 717 kg made $2010 and Friesian — Hereford bulls 545 kg made $1560. Murray Grey cross bulls 470 kg made $1340 and Friesian cross bulls 610 kg made $1700.

2 year Beef Shorthorn and White Galloway cross steers 474 kg made $1340 and Friesian cross steers 330 kg — 340 kg traded between $2.30 and $2.57 / kg.

2 year Friesian — Hereford heifers 440 kg made $1260 and Murray Grey cross heifers 360 kg made $450.

Yearling Friesian — Hereford steers 292 kg — 385 kg traded from $2.77 — $3.04 /kg, Speckle Park cross steers 340 kg made $1035, Murray Grey cross steers 322 kg made $940 and Friesian cross steers 265 kg — 275 kg traded between $2.89 — $3.11 / kg.

Yearling Friesian — Hereford heifers 260 kg — 347 kg traded from $2.46 — $3.17 /kg, Murray Grey cross heifers 302 kg made $820 and Angus cross heifers 295 kg made $730. Friesian and Friesian cross heifers 192 kg — 315 kg traded between $1.55 and $2.81 /kg.
In the weaner pens, Friesian bulls 103 kg — 190 kg made $390 — $550 and Friesian — Hereford bulls 85 kg — 131 kg made $420 — $615.

Angus cross bulls 115 kg made $410, Charolais cross bulls 112 kg made $670 and Friesian cross bulls 110 kg — 155 kg realised $2.58 — $3.68 /kg.

Friesian — Hereford steers 190 kg made $610 and Charolais cross steers 125 kg — 165 kg realised $3.70 — $4.32 / kg.

Friesian — Hereford heifers 103 kg — 185 kg realised $3.14 — $5.69 /kg, Angus cross heifers 112 — 157 realised $2.54 — $4.33 / kg and Charolais cross heifers 102 kg made $560.

Jersey cows with calves at foot made $730.

Friesian boner cows 362 kg — 650 kg traded between $1.65 — $1.81 and Friesian cross boners 410 kg — 560 kg realised $1.50 — $1.56.

In the calf pens Friesian bulls calves made $180, Hereford Friesian bull calves made $200 — $440 and Angus cross bull calves made $180.
