Person dies after tractor rolls in Canterbury

Police, fire and ambulance have rushed to the scene of an incident involving a tractor on Timaru Rd in Canterbury.

One person has died after a tractor rolled at a property in Waimate, halfway between Oamaru and Timaru.

Police said they had received the report around 5:15pm. WorkSafe had been advised and the death had been referred to the Coroner.

The incident happened on Timaru Rd between Deep Creek Rd and Champions Rd.

A St John spokeswoman said a helicopter and an ambulance had been sent to the incident. She referred all further comment to police.

The fire service was also notified.
