Hampden's Josh Quinn and Tane Nikau, 5, view some of the boars shot at the 2018 North Otago pig-hunting competition.

Twenty boars ranging in weight from 20kg to almost 70kg, about a dozen deer and several rabbits and possums were shot during the shoot, which started at noon on Friday and ended at 3pm yesterday.

Organiser Steve Hanson said 120 shooters registered for the 35th event, including 25 junior shooters.

The heaviest boar, which weighed in at 69.5kg, was shot by Oamaru's Sophie Hutchinson.

The event is organised by the North Otago Deerstalkers' Association.
