A stalwart of NZ Young Farmers has been recognised for his years of dedicated service.

Roger Dettling has been awarded a Life Membership with Central Taranaki Young Farmers.
Roger joined the organisation in 2007 and has been an active member ever since.

He convened the organising committee for the Taranaki/Manawatu Regional Final in Hawera last year.

The 30 year old is the "brains" behind the club's popular comedy night, which has raised several thousand dollars for charity.

"Roger's made a massive contribution to NZ Young Farmers," said Central Taranaki Young Farmers chairman Nick Brown.

"He's great at organising crucial details behind the scenes that people forget about."

"Roger's a guy who just gets on with it and always goes above and beyond what's expected of him," he said.

The father of two taught club members how to assemble and operate a chainsaw at a recent Skills Day in Toko.

The speedway enthusiast is also instrumental in organising a club dinner to welcome new farmers and rural professionals to the area each June.
