Farmers are starting to get ready for winter and Mark Robinson is hoping it will be a mild and dry one.

Fonterra's Head of Farm Source Otago/Southland, Robinson caught up with The Country Early Edition's Jamie Mackay to talk about how farmers should be getting ready for the winter months and how he thinks the future of dairy is in good hands.

Two things Robinson wants to remind farmers about for winter is to stock their tanker collection, (which can now be done up to 10 days in advance), and that MPI's new cooling regulations come into place on June 1st - Robinson urges farmers to have their systems ready for that change.

The regional dairy awards took place recently and Robinson says it was "awesome" to see young people achieving high praise and that the future looks bright for dairy.

Also in today's interview: Mark Robinson talks about Fonterra's Your MyConnect conference which takes place next week.
