The Country: The world’s most decorated shearer looks forward to the World Shearing and Woolhandling Champs in Invercargill on February 8-11.

The Wool Shearing and Woolhandling Champs are not far away now. They're being held in Invercargill in February and one man is getting ready to welcome the visiting hordes.

Sir David Fagan, the world's most decorated shearer caught up with The Country's Jamie Mackay for an overview of the upcoming events. Accommodation is like "hen's teeth" and Sir David says only a few places are left for people to stay.

There are 4,500 sheep and 32 countries participating next year. Sir David attributes the record turn out to publicity over the internet as the event becomes a word wide phenomenon.

Not only this but Sir David Fagan is keen to come out of retirement and challenge new PM Bill English to a shearing competition!
