The dairy industry is doing well at the moment, but Rabobank's chief executive Todd Charteris remains cautiously optimistic.

"The outlook is good but let's not get excited."

Charteris spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay about Rabobank's March Agribusiness Monthly report, which is largely positive for the primary sector.

Lamb is still performing well, and there are "encouraging signs coming out of the US market," for beef said Charteris.

"I think the outlook still remains quite strong for beef."

Also in today's interview: Charteris talks about how Brexit could affect New Zealand's primary sector.
