The Country kicks off a new series Farmers are Good Buggers too, showcasing farmers who are doing good things for the economy but, more importantly, doing the right thing by the environment

Today's interview is with Richard Subtil who runs a merino sheep and beef farm with his wife Annabelle on their iconic Omarama Station property.

Richard is doing right by the environment by closely monitoring and fencing off the Ahuriri and Oamarama streams which both run through his property. Subtil says the water quality criteria has improved even though he uses irrigation on his farm.

Richard also encourages visitors to Omarama Station, saying his family are more than happy for people to observe their environmental activities in action.
