“We have ten community committees made up of passionate employees across the country, and they get in behind and support great local causes that make a huge impact,” she told The Country Sport Breakfast’s Brian Kelly.
Junge said Fonterra recently supported the Special Children Christmas party in Waikato and the Bay of Plenty, for over 2000 children living with life-threatening illness, physical or intellectual impairment or in challenging circumstances.
She said the co-op was also busy in Auckland.
“Our Auckland team turned up in force to support Christmas Box, which is New Zealand’s largest Christmas giving initiative, contributing milk, and we had a heap of volunteers packing over 35,000 parcels.”
Junge said every Fonterra site had “giving trees” set up to collect gifts and food items to be donated to local schools and community trusts.
The co-op was also sharing festive cheer on the road.
“Our tanker drivers also love to spread Christmas spirit within their community,” Junge said.
“They decorate tankers, and they show up for their local Santa parades.”
She said they also had a calendar to support national charities.
“So, if you’re a fan of tankers, it’s not too late to buy one as a Christmas present.”

Junge said Fonterra was happy to let teams celebrate the festive season in their own way.
“We let them run with that, [their] creative flair; they know what works best for their communities.”
She said this brought the co-op’s Doing Good Together programme “to life”.
“We also understand that Christmas is a challenging time for many families, and most of our employees are embedded in the community, so they know how they can help.”
