Craig 'Wiggy' Wiggins on the mic y'all.

Craig 'Wiggy' Wiggins on the mic y'all.

Jamie Mackay catches up with Craig Wiggins this week on The Country Early Edition as Dom George is on holiday - slacker.

This gives Mackay the chance to stick the boot into Dom who often has a laugh at The Country host's expense on a Saturday morning.

Wiggy fills us in on the behind the scenes action at the FMG Young Farmer of the Year Grand Final and give us his opinion on the winner Athol New.

The contentious bottling plant is not going ahead in Ashburton.

This was an issue close to Wiggins' heart and he reckons the plant could have been set up locally to benefit the economy rather than sold overseas.

A social media campaign got global attention and Wiggy speculates this may have scuppered the deal.

Finally Mackay and Wiggins decide to tackle the media coverage of The FMG Young Farmer of the Year. The eight day delay in broadcasting the final has been causing rumbles around rural New Zealand.

Surely the FMG Young Farmer of the Year Grand Final is the kind of 'reality TV' that should be promoted on our screens?
