Volunteers from the Western Bay Museum churned 18 litres of cream and gave out over 3000 samples of butter at the Waikato A&P Show last month which has 15,000 visitors through the gate.
Many compliments were paid to the museum's stand and interactive demonstrations.
Museum manager Paula Gaelic said they had the butter maker from Fonterra churn some butter. "He reckoned it tasted pretty good."
She said being at the show was a massive success for the museum and promoting Katikati.
"I engaged with and handed out 1000 museum brochures promoting our museum and Education Programme, along with 'A Day in Katikati' and the Avocado Food and Wine Festival brochures.
