He said they would wait to see the findings from the study before making any upgrade designs.
The Daily Post spoke to members of the public to ask them what developments they would like to see at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre.
Of those spoken to the most popular suggestions for new developments at the centre were a cafe and hydroslides.
Other ideas included another pool for small children, a deeper pool for high diving and scuba, a wave pool, heated floors near the pools, cleaner changing rooms, a direct link with Kuirau Park and a better area for mothers to care for their babies outside the water.
Rotorua mum Karen Herbert said she liked the facilities at the Aquatic Centre but it just needed something more for older children.
"A wave pool and hydroslide would be nice, my older kids go to Bayfair in Tauranga just because it has a bit more.
"Also a cafe area for a place to sit down and have a coffee after a swim. There are just the vending machines at the moment."
Rotorua mum Shelley Mitchell said she would like to see a new pool for babies and young children.
"I'd like to see a better area for the babies ... There could be a secluded pool where it is all shallow without bigger kids around."
She said the shallowest pool at the centre was still relatively deep for young children and older kids would often take it over in the weekends.
Aquatic Centre lifeguard Mika Vulu said he would like to see a better link between the aquatic centre and Kuirau Park with maybe a BMX track in the park and hydroslides at the Aquatic Centre.
"It could help get the kids off the streets. They could play over there and have a bathe over here and then go home."
