If you want to see international reggae artist J Boog perform in Rotorua you better get your tickets fast.
J Boog, who has been dominating the airwaves in recent months with his hit Let's Do It Again, also featured on the track This Is Love by Monster, which spent 11 weeks on the New Zealand Top 40 Singles Chart. He is to perform at Rotorua's Kalah Bar in Ngongotaha tomorrow as part of the final of a seven-concert tour of the North Island.
J Boog, born Jerry Afemata, is a singer born in Long Beach and raised in Compton, California. His father is the chief of the family village in Aloa, Samoa. J Boog's Rotorua performance is part of the Sweet Summer Tour being organised by Roots Connect. The concert will also feature Che Fu and New Zealand Pacific reggae band Three Houses Down.
Kalah Bar co-owner Janina Khan said tickets were selling fast and encouraged people to buy their tickets if they wanted to attend. She said there would be a limited amount of door sales on the night. She said the Rotorua gig would be the final show on the tour, which would make it a good one. "Our show, it's going to be so great. I'm really excited about this one."
Miss Khan and fellow co-owner Missy Hale said the bar had in the past had a bad image.
The pair said they had worked hard to change the image and make the bar a good venue to hold positive events and concerts in the city. Ultimately they would like Kalah Bar to be the main venue for gigs in Rotorua.
Pre-sales for Sweet Summer Tour are $39 or $49 at the door. Get your tickets at Kalah Bar or online at www.dashtickets.co.nz. Kalah Bar offers transport for $2 each around Ngongotaha or $5 each in Rotorua, Hamurana or Mamaku - or $2 each if there are more than five people.
Kalah Bar is also hosting a Wrap Up Party for the Sweet Summer Tour on Sunday from 5pm. Entry for that would be $10 with performances from the Paepae Sound System.
