Tell us your favourite Rotorua business

The hunt is on for Rotorua's top businesses.

During September, Shop Rotorua and The Daily Post are asking city shoppers to vote for their favourite businesses.

Shop Rotorua's Cath Weston said the Top Biz awards were a way for locals to vote and reward their favourite local business as the winners would be voted for by the public, not a panel of judges.

Mrs Weston is asking people to vote in two catagories, for the business with the best service and the business that shows the best rugby atmosphere, or what she calls the Best Big Beast of a Rugby Atmosphere award.

"Because we are a World Cup host city we wanted to do something a bit out of the box so businesses that have put a lot of effort into promoting themselves and the Cup can gain some recognition."

She said she had distributed more than 4km of Rugby World Cup bunting to shops and many businesses had "gone all out" to decorate their business in a World Cup theme.

"People can vote for a range of reasons but I think fantastic service is essential for any business."

Mrs Weston said a great business not only looked after its customers, it also looked after its staff.

The top 10 businesses with the most votes would receive $200 worth of restaurant vouchers for them and staff.

The top two businesses, one for service and one for rugby atmosphere, would each receive a $500 restaurant voucher.

Everyone who votes will be put in the draw to win a $200 restaurant voucher.

Vote online at www.shoprotorua.co.nz, or drop your voting form into the letterbox at the main entrance of The Daily Post on Hinemoa St.

Voting closes on Friday, September 30. Winners will be notified by email and/or telephone.
