Tuhoe activist Tame Iti has painted a work of art from prison, to be auctioned in an effort to raise funds for his appeal.
Te Whai A Te Motu will be displayed in the Artists' Fundraiser Auction in Auckland later this month.
Iti and Te Rangikaiwhiria Kemara were jailed for two and a half years in May after being found guilty in the High Court at Auckland of firearms offences relating to the 2007 Urewera raids.
More than 40 contemporary artists, including Shane Cotton, Dean Buchanan and Charlotte Graham have donated works to the auction that aims to raise money for the pair's appeal against their convictions and sentences.
Other appeal fundraisers include custom designed T-shirts and a limited edition compilation CD featuring singer/songwriters such as Tiki Taane, Michael Franti, Maisey Rika and Emma Paki.
