GUMBOOTS AND ALL: Oriana Kershaw is one of the rising stars coming to sing in the bull ring at Kai Iwi next weekend.

Back by popular demand is Opera in the Bullring held at the Ranui Bull Sale Ring near Kai Iwi.

Whanganui opera singer and organiser Hayley Sellars has been away working towards her Bachelor of Music, at the University of Waikato and now she says it is time to get back in the ring.

"We don't have bulls in the ring while we are singing," says Haley.

"I guess it would be possible to hand train one and teach them to enjoy opera but no-one has the time."

The livestock will be out of sight when mezzo saprano Haley along with other rising stars Oriana Kershaw, Zoe Tait and Tristan Fisher take to the ring.

The audience can also look forward to listening to established performer Linden Loader and her daughter Chloe Garrett, an accomplished violinist and musical theatre performer.

"People can wear their nice dresses and suits but the recommended footwear is gumboots," says Haley.

There will be opera favourites from Carmen, Puccini and Mozart as well as some suprises says Haley.
