New Chronicle editor named

A new editor has been appointed to the Wanganui Chronicle following the promotion of current editor Kim Gillespie to lead The Daily Post in Rotorua.
The new editor is Ross Pringle, currently news editor of APN's Bay of Plenty Times daily newspaper in Tauranga.

In a 15-year newspaper career starting as a reporter at the Oamaru Mail, Mr Pringle has been with the Bay of Plenty Times for 10 years as deputy chief sub-editor, chief sub-editor and news editor. In the latter role, he has deputised for the editor for several extended periods.

Announcing the role, APN Regionals chief operating officer Rick Neville said Mr Pringle would bring to the Chronicle long experience in regional daily newspapers, enthusiasm for great journalism and proven skills in key areas.

"Having worked his way up to significant roles on one of our largest and most successful regional dailies, Ross has the know-how to build on the good work done by Kim Gillespie at the Chronicle."

Mr Pringle has been at the forefront of new developments in technology, changing work practices and in deciding how teams cover the news.

He will take up his new appointment in February.
