Tammy Davis, Julian Arahanga and Riwia Brown are some of the big names that will be in the city next Friday for a three-day wananga in television production for Whanganui iwi.
You might not recognise their real-life names, but you will recognise Once Were Warriors. Arahanga was Nig, Jake Heke's
son, and Brown was the scriptwriter for the movie. She is also a television drama, script consultant and playwright.
Davis, Munter in Outrageous Fortune, and Arahanga are brothers and from the Whanganui iwi Te Atihaunui a Paparangi.
Wanganui woman Anne Keating is bringing the lineup to Wanganui along with entertainer Mika, Paora Joseph, director and producer of the documentary Tatarakihi; Dr Ella Henry, a senior lecturer in Maori Media and Development at AUT; Christina Asher, dancer, actor and casting director for both television drama and feature films, and Whetu Fala, Nga Rauru, who has produced, directed and edited television drama and documentaries, reality series and short films.
It's a powerful lineup, says Keating who will be joined by her son Sacha, a producer at AWA FM.
