A bubbly blonde, blues singer Lyndsey Sinclair is at odds with her own music.
She took the stage as part of Blues Week which kicked off on Saturday with the Targa Streat Party outside Triple One 5 in Tutanekai St.
Ms Sinclair said it was great performing to more than 200 people who came to listen to the blues and see the rally drivers and their cars. It is the second time Rotorua has held Blues Week. The organisers, music club BOP Blues, were approached by Events Venues to hold a music festival to coincide with the extra visitors in Rotorua for the Targa Rally.
Ms Sinclair said she had only been singing the blues since October last year.
"I normally sing jazz or cabaret but I am really enjoying singing the blues, it's fantastic."
The week-long blues festival includes 17 events at seven different venues - 14 of which are free to the public.
Festival organiser Sally Garner said Saturday's concert was hugely popular.
"It was fantastic we had a much bigger turnout compared with last year ... The street just seemed full of people."
Rally driver Nelson Marshall said Rotorua had really made the drivers feel welcome, with Saturday's concert adding to the feel-good atmosphere. The 62-year-old said the weather had played a factor on the first morning of racing with fog claiming 26 of the 110 cars that took part in the rally.
"You needed to have a good team driving in those conditions. You're driving at lethal speeds and there was little room for error."
Mr Marshall said the second day saw perfect driving conditions and he was happy with how his car ran over the two-day event.
"We had a few teething problems, but that's to be expected when you are running in a new motor."
