Supper Club diners get chance to score X Factor final tickets

Highly prized tickets to one of New Zealand's hottest television shows will be up for grabs at next Wednesday's Supper Club charity auction.

It's been confirmed one of the auction items will be a package consisting of four tickets to the X Factor grand final in Auckland and accommodation for four at the SkyCity Grand Hotel.

The charity auction and dinner is an annual fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat in Ngongotaha, which hosts families of terminally ill children.

Supper Club organiser Linley Parry said she was delighted to have sourced the "money can't buy" X Factor tickets and expected them to be highly sought-after on the night by fans of the TV3 show - or the parents of fans.

"It's the sort of auction item that should be fairly well coveted," she said.

"It's a fun, feel good thing happening in New Zealand at the moment."

She said tickets to the final, the date of which was still to be confirmed, would not be available to buy and she was only able to get them because McDonald's sponsored the show.

It was impossible to know how much the package would fetch, although the accommodation alone was worth about $550, she said.

Mrs Parry said 15-year-old contestant Sam Yeoward - a John Paul College student - worked at McDonald's Te Ngae Rd so it had been exciting to watch his progress.

Sam's group TYP (The Young Project) was eliminated on Monday.

Mrs Parry said plans were in place for Wednesday's glittering affair, with all 28 tables now sold out.

She said auction items were still coming in, including pieces from local artists Trevor Nathan, Bruce McLachlan and Ron van der Vlugt.

Last year's event raised $54,000, Mrs Parry admitting that would be hard to top this year.
