Eating Milky Bars was Rotorua's Hinetaapora Short's favourite thing about being the new star of the new Milky Bar commercial.
The Te Kura o Te Koutu student, 9, beat more than 1500 nationwide entries to become the first female and Maori Milky Bar Kid.
The new commercial screens on national television for the first time tomorrow night.
Hinetaapora was feeling good about the premier.
"I feel really happy about it.
"I think it's really cool and a lot of people would like it."
The commercial is already available to view online and features Hinetaapora as a young girl whose mother is reading her the story of The Milky Bar Kid, a character which Hinetaapora then becomes, fighting evil cowboys with her laser-equipped rocket so she can get the Milky Bars and give them to children.
She said the two days of filming the commercial were tough and involved a lot of repetition.
"It was quite hard as I had to do it over and over.
"Some of the lines were long and I couldn't remember them all."
But she got to wear some cool costumes, including her favourite cowboy costume, and she ate lots of Milky Bars.
"Everytime we did it over, I had to eat a Milky Bar."
Hinetaapora said that was the best thing about being the Milky Bar Kid.
"I can eat heaps of Milky Bars."
She is keen to do some more acting in the future.
"I want to do it again, it's fun."
Hinetaapora's father Eric Short thought the commercial was pretty cool.
"My wife and I are both very proud of her."
Mr Short was there for the filming and said his daughter coped well with the hectic film schedule.
"There was a lot of pressure on her.
"It surprised me how she handled it all."
Tomorrow she will be in Christchurch appearing on TV2's What Now programme.
The commercial will play on Sunday after 7.30pm, or you can view it online at www.milkybar.co.nz.
