The property, 29 Bellingham Cres, before the Rotorua District Council purchased it.
A derelict house in Rotorua has been deliberately set alight as part of a fire training exercise.
The property, 29 Bellingham Cres in Fordlands, was set on fire to be used for training purposes for the New Zealand Fire Training Centre.
The house had often been used as a dumping
ground but was recently purchased by the Rotorua District Council to be cleared.
The fire marks the start of an urban renewal project in the suburb jointly organised by the Rotorua District Council and the Fordlands community.
