If you've been missing the jolly man in the red suit, this Saturday will be your chance to get re-acquainted.
The Whakatane Christmas Parade starts at 10am from Rex Morpeth Park before meandering its way through Kopeopeo and The Strand. It is exepected to finish at 12 noon, right about
when the Whakatane Christmas in the Park goes ahead at Rugby Park with entry by gold coin donation.
The family event will feature Lili Latham, Tait Kora Band and a cast of Eastern Bay performers who will entertain and sing Christmas carols. A market site will also be hosted at the park to provide rides and attractions.
People planning to attend Christmas in the Park are asked to enter the grounds via Short St (next to the Whakatane Aquatic Centre) while the cast and crew will use the Domain Rd entranceway. Entertainers are expected on stage at 2pm and the evening concludes at 10pm with a fireworks display.
