Bay athletes new faces for Beef Lamb ads

Olympic gold medallist Lisa Carrington, of Whakatane, and silver medallist Sarah Walker, of Kawerau, are the faces of Beef + Lamb New Zealand's latest marketing campaign.

The two will become a key part of upcoming television advertising, following in the footsteps of Sarah Ulmer, Georgina Earl (nee Evers-Swindell) and Caroline Meyer (nee Evers-Swindell).

Beef + Lamb NZ chief executive Rod Slater said Carrington and Walker were a perfect fit for the brand.

"For us this is a commercial decision, we've been looking long and hard at our marketing initiatives.

"To be honest, it wasn't until we saw the hype being created around Lisa and Sarah since they've been home that we decided they were absolutely the way we had to go.

"These girls have it all and New Zealanders have really taken them into their hearts," he said.

There was still one more announcement to come as although the Beef and Lamb T-shirts were decided, the '+' which was always worn by Ulmer was still to be confirmed.

"We've got someone in mind, a young woman who is achieving incredible results, but we're still putting it all together," Mr Slater said. "So, watch this space."
