Sex charge in 5-year old Sahara death case

A man charged with assault on a five-year-old child who died in her Napier home last month was to face an additional charge of sexual violation in the Napier District Court this morning.
Napier Police Area Commander Inspector Kevin Kalff announced the additional charge just hours before the court opened.
It formed part of an on-going investigation into the suspicious death of Sahara Baker-Koro who was found dead at her Riverbend Rd, Onekawa, home on December 21, he said.
Mr Kalff said police were not commenting on any links between the youngster and the 24-year-old man who has name suppression.
He was scheduled to appear in court just after 10am today.
Mr Kalff said police would be seeking a further remand in custody to February 24.
