Minor changes have been made to the Hastings District Council wards for next year's local body election.
A council spokesperson said changes included moving new housing developments from rural wards into urban wards.
"This included the likes of new housing development at Lyndhurst, Howard St, Iona and Northwood, which had been changed from the rural Heretaunga ward to the Hastings-Havelock North ward," the spokesperson said.
"Lifestyle blocks in the Te Mata hills which had previously been in the Kahuranaki ward have also been moved into the Hastings-Havelock North Ward."
This was to ensure those living in urban areas were voting in an urban ward, which better reflected their communities interests, a council press release said.
