A new and exciting category has been included for the first time in this year's Triple Peaks Challenge.
Organisers are inviting paragliders to compete in the popular Havelock North-based event.
The direction of this year's challenge has been reversed to allow the paragliders to fly between the three peaks. The challenge begins with a climb of Te Mata Peak, before taking on Mt Kahuranaki and finally over Mount Erin to the finish line.
Triple Peaks organiser David Tait said the paragliders would be a "real novelty".
"Changing the direction will make the event feel new for those who have competed in past years. It will become a fresh challenge for everyone," Mr Tait said.
