A man pointing a toy gun at cars in Havelock North on Saturday sparked an armed police response.
It is believed he picked up a plastic gun at the 2n'5 Shop in Havelock's Village centre and was fooling around with it on his walk home, pointing the barrel at cars
and people about 1.30pm.
A member of the public phoned the police, concerned it was a real weapon.
Inspector Hirone Waretini said they arrived to discover the gun was a fake and had given the man a warning.
