KIWIBANK in Gisborne is developing a stand-alone branch and NZ Post is looking for a new home in town.

New Zealand Post head of retail, Mark Yagmich said NZ Post was now actively looking for a local business, to work with to deliver postal services that are available from the PostShop on the corner of Gladstone Road and Bright Street.

Postal services are available in Gisborne also at the Ballance Street Bookshop, Whataupoko, at the NZ PostShop and Kiwibank in Kaiti Mall, and Lytton West Post and Lotto in Lytton West.

Mr Yagmich said NZ Post already successfully delivered postal services through local businesses in many communities throughout New Zealand as a way of maintaining a sustainable business.

“While we carry out this search there will be no change to our services for customers who use the Gladstone Road PostShop.”

A date has not been set yet but he says NZ Post will work alongside Kiwibank in keeping staff, customers and the community informed as dates and changes are confirmed.

NZ Post hopes to be able to confirm the next steps in the new year.

“We would like to assure customers there will be no change to postal services or access to the box lobby while we look for a local business to partner with.”
