King tides over the weekend resulted in these Oropi fishermen being in the unusual situation of nearly getting their feet wet angling from their favourite perch on a groyne at the end of Sulphur Point.
Whenever a decent sized boat motored past at the peak of high tide yesterday morning, the wake washed right across the lowest point of the groyne, leaving (from left) Roman Ngaronga, Anaru Sisson and Tyrese Nohokau feeling a little vulnerable.
King tides, caused when the new or full moon is closest to Earth, were at their highest over the weekend and caused alerts all over the country.
