Kristy McGregor will transform an isolated hall in Horowhenua's Mangaore Village into a 1920s wonderland for a glitzy charity event.

An isolated hall in Horowhenua's Mangaore Village is set to be transformed into a 1920s wonderland to bring the rural community together.

Vogue in the Village will take Mangaore Hall back to the roaring 1920s this Friday, with guests arriving in Great Gatsby style ready to charlston to live music provided by The Andrew London Trio.

Event organiser Kristy McGregor said isolated settings can have quite a powerful impact of bringing people together. "Around here [Horowhenua] there aren't many opportunities to get dressed up and go out, we wanted to provide an opportunity that is a bit of a rarity round here," she said.

The community event is not-for-profit, with funds raised going to the Shannon Volunteer Fire Brigade, which will be providing the security on the night and tending the bar, and to Levin's Altrusa whose members aim to improve economic wellbeing and quality of life through community services and literacy.

There are still tickets available so grab a group of friends and put on your glad-rags for a night of dancing, good food and fine company.
