UNDER CONSTRUCTION: The set for A Doll's House begins to take shape. PICTURE: MARK RAYNER
With our first read-through for A Doll's House happening this Sunday, it's all systems go for our eagerly awaited first production of 2015, directed by Phil Portland.
Already the set is beginning to take shape (with much thanks to Howard Taylor), and so the "bare bones" of construction is in place,
ready for the start of rehearsals. Huge thanks must also go to all the guys at The Renovators Centre who have once again helped us out with some of the set materials - it's always much appreciated.
As mentioned last week, the deadline is fast approaching for our festival of new plays to commemorate the centenary of World War 1, and we're thrilled to have received two scripts, both by local authors. The cut-off date for this new writing initiative is February 28, which still gives any would-be playwrights a few more weeks to put pen to paper.
Plays can be any length from a short "vignette" to a full two acts, and must, in some way, have a local connection, perhaps telling the story (real or imagined) of an individual (at home or abroad) or even reflecting the wider ongoing impact this catastrophic event had on our community. Completed scripts can be dropped at The Barber's Shop in Ridgway St marked for the attention of April Pearson. For further information, email aprilp@clear.net.nz
A Doll's House will play at Repertory Theatre from March 20 to 28. For regular information and updates check out our Facebook page or go to www.wanganuirepertorytheatre.co.nz
