Friday Mar 4: World Day Of Prayer Service prepared by the Women of Chile "How many loaves have you?" at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Fenton St at 6.30pm. All welcome.
Friday Mar 4-Wed Mar 9: Hotel, a Rotorua Festival of Arts production. What if these walls could speak? This was
the question posed by Paul McLaughlin and Martyn Roberts of a hotel suite in Brisbane, Australia. While on tour, the two practitioners conceived the idea of creating a site-specific show to be performed in a luxury hotel suite. The show is at the Princes Gate Hotel with performances at 6.30pm and 8pm each day. Tickets are $35 for adults from Ticketmaster.
Friday Mar 4: Cook Islands mini dance competition. Fundraising for the umu pit project and celebration of Children's Day. Prizes for all contestants. There are three categories, including a World Rugby Cup theme catwalk. Runs from 6 to 9pm at Cook Islands Community Hall, 101a Clayton Rd. Spectator admission is $5 adults and gold coin donation for children. Entries cost $20. Contact Tere Puia on 0210 310 837.
Saturday Mar 5: The Ngongotaha Soccer Club is having a 12-hour soccer match to show support and raise money for Christchurch from 7am to 7pm. It is open to all players from all clubs and all levels including men, women, children and social players. Come along and play or watch. Saturday Mar 5 - Sunday Mar 6:
The Bubbles and Mustard Show. Join our tour around the sound studio where the greatest radio show ever to hit the airwaves is recorded. You will see how the clever sound crew makes all the noises and special effects you hear on the radio. It's a 50 minute live show introducing the imaginative and entertaining world of sound effects. Suitable for the whole family. Audience participation is encouraged and applauded as young and old help
save the day. $5 each for adults and children at the Concert Chamber, Convention Centre, 11am.
Saturday Mar 5: The Rotorua North Rotary Club Charity Flea Market. Open every Saturday next to the playground in Kuirau Park from 7am-1.30pm. A huge range of produce, food, goods and entertainment.
Saturday Mar 5: The Friends of the Rotorua Library Book Sale. At the old Tea Kiosk in Kuirau Park from 9am-1pm. Thousands of books at bargain prices with new stock arriving all the time. All proceeds to the Rotorua District Library.
Saturday Mar 5: Rocker bands Burning Embers From Wellington and Special Ops Mission from Canada are coming to ROCK Rotorua as part of their Burning 2011 Tour. 9pm - 2am at After Dark, 1237 Pukuatua St, Rotorua. Entry is $10.
Saturday Mar 5 - Monday Mar 7: Niu Sila, written by two of New Zealand's best-known comedy writers, Dave Armstrong and Oscar Kightley, is a story about a friendship spanning more than 30 years, two cultures and one multicultural neighbourhood. Peopled with drunken uncles, crooked ministers, left-wing university professors, a no-nonsense Polynesian matriarch, and an entire local Indian cricket team, this thought-provoking story will delight and challenge. On at the Banquet
Room, Rotorua Convention Centre at 7.30pm. Adults $30, student or senior citizens $20 from Ticketmaster.
Sunday Mar 6: Kingsgate Hotel Off Road Half Marathon. Make sure you are part of this outstanding event through the Whakarewarewa Forest which also includes a 10km fun run and Little Devils run for children aged 3 to 10. The main event is a two lap course of scenic trails and smooth gravel forest roads. and starts and finishes at the Waipa Mill Recreation area adjacent to the Mountainbike carpark. Sunday Mar 6: Old Forest School, formerly Pongakawa Valley/ Rotoehu Forest School is holding its 2nd Annual Summer Picnic and reunion. The school closed in 1986 and has undergone renovations restoring it to its former glory. Past pupils, staff and their families and residents of the Rotoehu community, are welcome. Sunday Mar 6: Bring the whole family to the Children and Family Fun Day @ The Redwoods, a free event celebrating National Children's Day with a theme of love and affection. Enjoy the outdoors and participate in a great range of activities including arts, storytelling, music, dance, and lots more. Bring a picnic or you can buy food from the foods stalls and coffee cart. Dress up in theme and be in to win great prizes. Plus get your kart ready for the Great Go-Kart Race or just
enjoy watching the fun. The day goes from 10am - 3pm at Whakarewarewa Forest, The Redwoods.
Sunday Mar 6: Bunning's Great Go Kart Race 2011 - Emergency Services & Kids Races. It's time to ressurect old karts or give new life to an old lawnmower, pram or sledge. Push power is a must, so adults start training to push your kids down Long Mile Rd. Great prizes for drivers and pushers and most creative, most colourful, best use of recycled materials and more. Enter now as no entries will be taken on the day. All funds raised go to the Rotorua Hospital Childrens Ward

Sunday Mar 6: Samsung Masters NZCPA vs Rotorua U19 Invitational T20 Cricket. With the success of last year's "Bone Raiser" the New Zealand Cricket Players Association Masters team are back at Smallbone Park. This time they will test the skills of Rotorua's Emerging Talent. Come support our up-and-coming local U19 players as they take on some of NZ's top past and present provincial and national representatives. Entry by gold coin donation, all proceeds go towards
Junior Cricket. The event is from 12 - 8pm at Smallbone Park, Devon St West.
Sunday Mar 6: Heritage Village Te Amorangi Museum in the Summer. Come and learn what life was like almost 100 years ago. Children can climb, explore and learn of farm machinery. Stroll along the 1920s street. Bring a picnic and bring your camera. Open Thursdays and Sundays 10am to 4pm at 43 - 45 Robinson Ave, Rotorua. Adults $5, children free admission. Monday Mar 7: Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic v Canterbury Tactix at Rotorua Energy Events Centre. Match starts at 7.40pm. Adult tickets are $20 and children under 12 $10. Tickets can be bought via Ticket Direct, the Convention Centre in Rotorua, Hunting & Fishing and via the Franchise office in Tauranga. Group bookings can be made by calling 07 5710886.
Monday Mar 7 - Thursday Mar 10: Back of the Bus, another show from the Rotorua Festival of Arts. This sensory bus ride steals you away from the daily grind as Java Dance defy gravity, stall time and get the heart racing. Whether it's a glimpse from the street or the full journey you won't believe your eyes. The audience arrive at the bus stop and Princes Gate Hotel and pay to jump on the chartered bus. After being taken on the ride of their lives they disembark at a handy
local bar to live it up. Shows are at 6.30pm and 8pn daily. Bus ticket costs $35 from Ticketmaster or call (07) 350 2244.
