Rotorua Lakes High School is performing the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk next week.
The school will hold three shows - on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - which will be open to the public and start at 6.30pm in the school auditorium.
The cast of 30 students have been putting
in big hours to prepare for the show with six-hour sessions at the weekends and full lunchtime rehearsals during the day.
Staff at Victoria Grove Costume Hire have made all the costumes and helped with the set. The show will be the biggest the school has held in five years.
English teacher and drama graduate Katherine Beijeman came up with the idea last year and said everyone involved was having a great time. A lot of the students involved had never acted before and had not done drama before but simply wanted to give it a go, she said.
