Rotorua teenagers were treated to a celebrity at their school ball.
Temuera Morrison added a touch of authenticity to Western Heights High School's Star Wars-themed ball, which was held at the Energy Events Centre on Friday night.
Morrison played Jango Fett the bounty hunter in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the
Clones.
He was asked to go to the ball by his niece, Western Heights High School's Ngatai Bennett.
Ngatai said her uncle's appearance was a surprise to most of the students at the school ball.
"Our teacher made an announcement then me and my sister Kahu walked in with him," she said. "It was great, everyone was clapping and cheering. They were really shocked."
Ngatai said she thought it would be cool for her uncle to make an appearance at the ball, given he had been in a Star Wars movie.
"He presented the awards to people for King, Queen, Prince and Princess of the Ball," she said.
"He didn't stay for very long though. He was only there for about half an hour."
Ngatai said school balls were competitive between schools.
"We have definitely outdone the other schools," she said. "It would be hard to top this one."
Morrison could not be contacted for comment.
